PERFORMER-COMPOSER BIOGRAPHY

Dani’s debut solo recording with guest Jerry Granelli, has been called “powerful” (Christos Hatzis 2015) and “extraordinary” (Mike Murley 2015). Danny tours Canada and abroad as the saxophonist in the Juno-nominated Jerry Granelli Trio. Their latest recording, in collaboration with Mike Murley, won a 2016 ECMA for Best Jazz Recording. Dani’s duo with brother Sageev Oore is over thirty years deep; their debut album Radical Cycle was recorded for CBC and nominated for a 2013 ECMA for Best Classical Recording. Dani cofounded, fronted, and composed much of the music for the popular multi-award winning group, Gypsophilia, before he left to live in the desert. Early on, his creative process and philosophy inspired a film by Larry Jackman and a radio doc for national CBC. His music is featured on over twenty CBC Radio specials, in collaborations with artists from different traditions and disciplines, and in soundtracks to his sister Jasmine Oore’s award-winning films. Dan is the lead actor in Jasmine’s forthcoming film.

As a performer and composer, Daniel’s stage and studio credits include collaborations with: Julian Priester, Jay Clayton, Alain Trudel, Dave Douglas, Patricia Rozario, Sam Rivers, Dan Weiss, Barry Guy, David Tronzo, Fred Frith, Cory Bowles, Andrew Dawes, The Chris Tarry Group, David Braid, Plants and Animals, Duane Linklater, Al Tuck, Andrew Downing, Guy Few, David Virelles, Mary Jane Lamond, Upstream Orchestra, Mark Fewer, Christine Duncan, Nick Fraser, Michael Blake, Kiran Ahluwalia, and Sara Shelton Mann.
